Girl Scouts of the USA are celebrating National Cookie Weekend on March 3-5, 2023.[0] This is a weekend dedicated to driving awareness for the Girl Scout Cookie Financial Literacy Program, which teaches young girls about entrepreneurship.[1] The popular cookie sale is the primary fundraiser for troops’ activities such as earning badges, community service projects, trips and camps.[2] This year, Girl Scouts introduced a new cookie, the “Raspberry Rally”, which is only sold online and with a limited quantity.[3]

Through managing sales via the Digital Cookie® platform, Girl Scouts are growing their businesses online while learning real-world entrepreneurial skills such as money management, goal setting, and customer service.[4] The cookie has since become so popular that it has sold out, leading to a resale market in which they sport some eye-popping prices. The Girl Scouts of the USA also discourages the illegal resale of its cookies.[5]
The varieties available this year include traditional favorites like Peanut Butter Patties, Thin Mints, Trefoils, Lemonades, and Caramel deLites, as well as more recent additions like Adventurefuls, a brownie caramel sea salt cookie, and Toast-Yay! cookies, a French-toast-inspired iced cookie.[6] Nineteen percent of the proceeds from cookie sales are used to fund camp programs and properties, 19% goes to troop proceeds and rewards, and 33% is allocated to membership, volunteer development, and program support – all within the local area. These funds are devoted to girl-related causes.[1]
