President’s Day is an annual holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February each year to honor the contributions and legacy of America’s first president, George Washington. This year, President’s Day falls on Monday, February 20, 2023.[0] On this day, the US stock market and bond market are both closed in observance of the holiday.
While the stock and bond markets will be closed on President’s Day, it is possible that certain businesses and government offices will remain open. Since this holiday is not mandated by the federal government, it is up to individual employers to determine whether or not they will observe it.[1] Are you curious to know when the market opens for regular trading hours? The Nasdaq Stock Market and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.[2] Monday through Friday, Eastern time.[2]
Not all banks are open on Presidents’ Day, but some are. Mybanktracker.com has reported that Wells Fargo and TD Bank will both be open on February 20th.[3] Walmart will also be open on Presidents Day. Walmart will be closed on Christmas Day, as per their holiday schedule, and no other holidays.[4] If you require anything from the retail giant on Monday, it will be available.[4]
