Strong Fourth-Quarter GDP Lifts Stocks; Tesla (TSLA) to Report After Closing Bell

U.S. stocks began Thursday’s session slightly higher, buoyed by better-than-expected fourth-quarter GDP and first-time jobless claims. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6%, the S&P 500 index jumped 1.1%, the Nasdaq Composite leapt 1.7%, and the small-cap Russell 2000 gained 0.6%.

On Tuesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 104 points (0.31%) to 33,733, the S&P 500 decreased by 3 points (0.07%) to 4,016.95, and the Nasdaq Composite fell by 30 points (0.27%) to 11,334. The 10-year U.S. Treasury note’s yield saw an increase to 3.477% on Thursday, up from 3.461% the day The WSJ Dollar Index experienced a slight increase of less than 0.[0]
